Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Moutet.

It is his maiden championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court since that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates he has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to force a final set.

The opponent rescued four initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
